Welcome To Ms. Sears' Homepage

Hi, I am Ms. Sears and this is my second year teaching but my first year at Huron Academy.  Last year I taught seventh and eighth grade Math and Language Arts at Great Oaks Academy.  This year I will be working closely with first and second grade on their reading and writing skills.  I am very excited to be working with the students and parents.  Reading Recovery is a great program and I hope it will be a great success at Huron Academy.

I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I majored in Mathematics and minored in English Language Arts.  When I am not teaching I love to spend time with my wonderful fiance Jake and our dog Petri.  I like to read and do a lot of outdoor activities like jet ski, snomobile, bike ride, and play sports.  My favorite thing to do is go to a Tigers or Red Wings game.  I am looking forward to getting to know the students better and I hope this will be a great year!

Reading Recovery students are in the "roaming" phase.  We are determining what they know how to do already, and they are showing me that they know so much!

Literacy groups will be starting soon and letters will be going home to parents of the students who have been chosen to participate.
